From Guests Who Have Sailed With Us

SH

Siti Hajar Ramli

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Full Day Reef & Shore

"The snorkelling at Tanjung Tuan was something I hadn't expected to find so close to the peninsula. The reef guide knew every species we saw by name and was genuinely enthusiastic about sharing that. The nasi lemak on deck was, honestly, one of the better meals I've had this year."

Chong Wei Liang

Seremban, Malaysia

Half Day — Quiet Waters

"I live in Seremban and had no idea you could do something like this half an hour from town. The estuary section through the mangroves was genuinely peaceful — different from any boat trip I'd taken before. Good for a weekend morning when you want to be somewhere that feels far away without actually going anywhere."

Ananya Thakur

Singapore

Three-Day Southern Islands

"Three days felt like exactly the right amount of time. Pulau Sibu was quieter than I expected — which was the whole point. The food was genuinely good throughout; Nurul cooked dishes I didn't know by name but ate entirely. The cabin was small but perfectly adequate. The crew never rushed anything."

Rajiv Menon

Penang, Malaysia

Full Day Reef & Shore

"I've snorkelled in Redang and the Perhentians and this held up well against both — fewer people, cleaner anchorage, and a crew who clearly cared about the reef. The skipper pointed out the Cape Rachado lighthouse as we passed and shared some of its history. A small thing, but it added something."

Nurul Izzah

Johor Bahru, Malaysia

Three-Day Southern Islands

"We booked this as a couple's trip and it was right for that. The evenings at anchor were very still — hard to describe how different that feels from being on land. The second day at Pulau Sibu was my favourite part of the whole trip. We walked to the village in the morning and were back on board for a late lunch."

Tan Kai Xin

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Half Day — Quiet Waters

"A low-key, pleasant morning. The brunch was surprisingly satisfying for what is described as a light meal. I saw two kingfishers in the estuarine section and one brahminy kite — which was unexpected. The group was small enough that it never felt crowded, and the pace was very easy. Exactly what I needed."

A Few Guest Journeys

AT

Ananya Thakur — Singapore

Three-Day Southern Islands Trail

Starting Point

Ananya had taken several package tours in Southeast Asia and found that larger boats and fixed itineraries left little room to actually be in a place. She was looking for something slower and more personal, and came across Keelward while researching the Negeri Sembilan region.

The Experience

She joined the Three-Day Southern Islands Trail in December. The small group (six guests total) kept things calm throughout. The day on Pulau Sibu — beaches, reefs, the village — gave her the extended access to a single place that she had been seeking. The meals were a recurring highlight.

Afterwards

She has referred Keelward to two colleagues since returning to Singapore, and is enquiring about the full-day reef trip for a return visit in March 2026. Her rating: 4 out of 5, noting that the cabin, while comfortable, was compact.

RM

Rajiv Menon — Penang

Full Day Reef & Shore

Starting Point

Rajiv is an experienced snorkeller who had visited Malaysia's more well-known reef destinations and was curious whether the western coast could offer anything comparable. He was sceptical, but the proximity to Kuala Lumpur made the trip worth trying.

The Experience

Both reef sites exceeded expectations — he noted fewer boats, cleaner anchoring, and a more attentive crew than he had encountered elsewhere. The marine ecology narration from Huay Shan was the detail he mentioned most specifically in his review.

Afterwards

Rajiv's rating was 5 out of 5. He subsequently recommended the trip to three members of a diving group he belongs to in Penang, two of whom booked within the following month.
